Glass Joe is a French boxer in the 'Punch-Out' video game series from Nintendo. His character was based on the negative French stereotype of weakness and cowardice. Glass Joe appears at the first match of all games and due to his weakness, was used as an opponent in game controller testers.
Glass Joe's name is derived from the words - 'Glass Jaw', which is a title often granted to the worst team or player. (In Major League Baseball, the Los Angeles Angels, New York Mets, New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves have also been conferred that name.)
Glass Joe is the ideal victim of Nintendo, which largely represented the culture of the 90s.
